I did an n-gague wall-mount build. It runs back and forth every 15 minutes, slowing down at each end, and doing the same at the center station, where it sits for a bit before departing. I use hall-effect sensors under the track and magnets glued to the bottom of the train for position control, along with an atmega1284p-based controller to run it.
I light my Kato trains with
hktilc.com lights, they're way better than the official Kato lights, and much cheaper.
