Pulled a bunch of the painted weapons I've got from China, most are done properly (the brown on the tip of the one M1 carbine is an error). The submachine guns (Thompson excepted) seem to have had such furnishings added just for the sake of the theme, don't think you could argue the Sten's colors in particular, heh.
They certainly have stepped up their game though, bought some dual-molded weapons with micro-printing on some that were quite well done (more expensive, but still cheaper than BrickArms). They do research the minifigs for sure, just seems the weapons continue to get less scrutiny given the average crew of figures included with a tank or gun will have at least a couple anachronistic small arms in their kit.
