>>6528712Wherever you sit at present, really. It's gluing pieces of plasticard together into a square shape, so I'd suggest starting with cardstock, paper and cut-up soft drink cans as those are cheap and don't take as many tools.
Find a design you like that's mostly made up of square blocks and circles and draft a plan showing it from at least two, but preferably three elevations in the size you want the model to be. Now decide into which units you wanna split up the model and draft those. Transfer the parts to some other paper and assemble them into the model.
The good thing about starting with something like Office paper is that you don't really have to consider the material's thickness during planning and assembly (unless you're going for show-quality, that is).
