The way the thigh connectors are attached are pretty self contained and don't really exert any force on the surrounding plastic aside from the expected weight, which is probably why Megatrons with full on cracks aren't just exploding in half (at least not yet). Not actually that nerve wracking to take apart when you see what's up.

Also it's an absolute bitch to unscrew the thigh parts from the gears because they decided to use thread lock for no reason, even though the thighs and gears are keyed to prevent them from rotating anyway.
