Overall the biggest bonus of working on ships/planes over mecha, is no joints. Don't have to worry about welding causing damage, or moving parts scrapping paint and wearing it down. They also tend to have much higher detail and more panel lining to work with so its more enjoyable to detail the shit out of them.
