I'm gonna assume you know enough about the X-men to get their deal but the Inhumans were basically an offshoot of early human evolution via the Kree monkeying around with early humans. They hid themselves away in there own city deep in the mounds (later the moon) and basically just minded their own shit before getting involved with a whole royal conflict over succession and making friends with the fantastic four.
