If the paint is not thin enough then it's a blotchy mess. If I thin it too much it runs everywhere and needs 5 coats. How do you even get the ratios right when every single bottle/jar of paint has a different consistency? I see people achieving professional airbrush results with just hand brushing and I have no fucking idea how they do it.
