>>9468524A 4x8 table layout is the definition of a beginner modeller's layout, it's what pretty much every kid starts out with (Though I was stuck with a 3x6 because my dad thought it'd be easier to have it on a Murphy bed frame to hide in a closet). Yeah those layout designs posted above may look at the "intermediate" level but they'd use the same construction technique as a 4x8 table layout, you're just adding an extra step by making 1/2 extra cuts into your plywood.

>>9468527 feels very intermediate to me since you've got a fascia, DCC, and some scratchbuilt/kitbashed structures, but at the end of the day the actual layout is just a small bent dogbone with some sidings and extra inner loops added. An "advanced" layout would be some huge-ass museum quality layout that takes up the whole room like pic related or one of those layouts that acts as a photorealistic replica of an actual section of a train line and the surrounding area.
