It was not so much a gap I was trying to fill and more of a panel misalignment I was trying fix the wrong way instead of spending millennia sanding it smooth. I decided to give up on it and instead will be attempting to cover it up with some rust or something.
First time trying any sort of weathering, went with the hairspray method. I wish I had put down a bigger and heavier coat of brown before the steel color. Even though theres more of the black primer showing than the brown, I'm still incredibly pleased with the results. I can always touch it up later with the oil paints and stuff I just bought too, for extra rusty effect.
I'm not sure what I should do to the chassis for a similar shitty old truck effect, and I've got plenty of ideas for the cab and interior.
