On that note the GI Joe comics hold up. COBRA was not unlike what Trump's enterprise is, and there is a way to take a casual if hypocritical swipe at corporate greed and un-American behaviors (racism etc) if they so desire.
But there's the problem: desire. Any kid that can play with a GI Joe wants Call of Duty or a bb gun instead. The combination of videogames and bb guns makes classic GI Joes and 80s GI Joes far less appealing.
