>>7103513A general criticism you may find about the Astray is that it's not as good as other Metal Builds. This criticism comes in part from the fact that Astray is pretty much the only MB that is mostly unpainted. MBs are usually completely painted with a matte finish, and while the Astray does many painted areas (and a very healthy amount of tampo detail), the white areas on Astray are nearly all unpainted plastic.
The plastic used is good quality stuff though, and it's polished to a glossy shine which looks quite nice in-hand, but next to a fully painted MB (in this case Exia, which has all its white areas painted) the difference is immediately noticeable.
Astray also gets dinged for its hefty amount of sold-separately accessories, and depending on what packs you wanted this may or may not be a big negative for you. For example the Flight Unit was sold separately and now it can cost nearly as much as the Astray itself (the Flight Unit is awesome, but I can't say it's $150+ awesome), but if you weren't interested in it then it's a moot issue.
Overall though, if you want an Astray toy that looks good while also being playable (it's very sturdy feeling in-hand with tight joints and quality construction), the Metal Build will fit the bill. On its own, it's a good, solid toy, but compared to other suits in the same line it doesn't compare quite as favorably.

>>7103994I'd hold off on making a decision until after watching the anime. Learning about the pilot and seeing the tails in action will help you determine if its worth the double-dip. It's a standard release too, so there's no harm in waiting a little bit before making your choice!
