Mrs potato does have some sort of remote viewing through her missing eye. So, quite probably japanese toys are really messed up people (?), because they have many faces looking at different things all the time, and maybe their respective faces keep whatever mood are supposed to represent. As in example, the revoltech queen's blade figures have these "defeated" face plates, so they are always embarrassed or scared of everything, while the other "shouting" face is always bitching about everything and picking up fights.
Another possibility is the figures only recognise one particular accessory as part of their body, so the rest are inert until they are attached to the main body. So, as in the Cattleya example, whenever the owner puts the S face, she goes all bitchy with her companions until her owner changes the face back to the normal or M face.
