There's been something similar in the past, which is pic related and was also introduced by Ninjago in 2012 as propeller blades for an helicpoter. It also makes for an amazing katana for large figures and has been used as such by various sets (even in HF).
This new blade is much more specfic though, and doesn't look like a vehicle part at all. It looks like it was specifically designed as an actual weapon.
