finished the bulk of the painting and decided to dryfit to check it out. reasonably pleased with everything so far. need to do some touch-up painting and paint the gray bits on the deck before I can move on, though.
and now I'm beginning to see why a lot of modelers say you need to compensate for weird shadow shit if you want ships to look realistic. it may just be a trick of lighting, but the turrets and superstructure seem a different color from the hull -- which of course makes no sense, because I painted them all in one go. I'm sure it'll look better once everything is weathered and varnished. also the lighting here is suboptimal anyway
