>>10107891>She found one on ebay prepainted, idk if it's a recastIt's probably a recast. 75% chance.
>>10107891>What would be the main issue with a recast?- Recasts are illegal fakes
- Made at low quality standards (decrease cost for the buyer & maximize profits for the recaster)
- Low quality standards does not guarantee you'll get a poor quality doll, but it’s highly possible, and you probably won’t get good aftercare from the recaster
- Low quality standards also means low OHS standards for the people making them, otherwise their manufacturing costs would be higher. Think working with active carcinogens without wearing gloves or a respirator.
- The artists who make the originals have asked us not to buy recasts
So recasts are mostly an ethical dilemma.
Can you justify people potentially being hurt and stealing from artists just to get a pretty thing you want, but don't need?
Relatedly, recasts will ostracize her from a large part of the community, since (as you can see in this thread), people tend to get heated over it.
If she wants to participate in the community unrestricted, she'll want to go with an authentic doll.
A lot of artists who paint the face won’t work on recasts.
Some tailors won’t sell clothes to people they know have recasts.
