About the hips: MoMo also has wide hips, and if you just move her leg sideways you get a similar situation as Samus where there's a massive cut in the sculpt (black). But the hip joint is mounted on a hinge, so you can pull the leg up (white) which fixes the sculpt. I hope they did something similar with Samus through other means and people haven't figured out.
