wasn't born when vintage was around, didn't watch the 200x cartoon. (and wasn't as big a fan of the toy designs, the chinese aspects turn me off much like most TMNT crossover parts)
for me the appeal is the standalone bizarre toys, i have that exact same nostalgic feeling
I personally don't prioritize knowing an ip or series at all when it comes to toys, i much prefer headcanoning and apreciating the toy as its own thing.
If that is something you can get on board with, just pick up whatever you think is cool.
I think minicomic trap jaw is very cheap now, and it's a goated figure with a really great colourscheme. And thisis coming from someone who loved loved loved og trapjaw.
tl;dr
I'd suggest getting the toys you like for toys sake now if you can find them cheap.
At the absolute worst case scenario, you can use their parts as custom fodder later wich is a ton of fun.
>>11581778I personally like the hair, reminds me of a wrestling getup or mr. T.
But yeah the human clothes and room are lame. Leaning into the barbarian/medieval fantasy is part of what makes it great.
This could be a panel of just any random marvel comic set in current day.
