My kids don't mess with anything in my room since it's nothing special to them. When their friends come over, they're instantly attracted to the room, so the gate kind of helps with that. This particular room doesn't have a door because the previous owner removed the closet and used it as a "concession stand" for his (then) movie room. I'm getting a sliding barn door put up next week though.
