It's generic shit that has long since had the niche filled in, hence GI Joe needing to be updated with sci fi elements to keep it from blending in with other generic military lines way back in the 80s.
They still need to blend that sci fi shit into it, hence the Pursuit of Cobra line being one of the most popular times for the GI Joe line, despite the GI Joe movie bombing. Way more figures were released afterward than we're currently getting after the new movie bombed.
