I have two walmarts near me, a normal one and a super center and neither carries collector lines for the past 5 years or longer.
Whereas they carry childrens toys from Jazwares, Spinmasters, Hasbro, Mattel, LEGO, MEgabloks... wait, i don't think they carry megabloks anymore. They also carried McFarlane's Five Nights at Freddys stuff and once upon a time, the Walking Dead/SouthPark/StevenUniverse building sets.
The next two closest walmarts are about 10 minutes away and they also carried pretty much the same stuff. One of them carried the MCfarlane CoD and Borderlands stuff. Both of these are super centers. A little further away, 15 to 20 minutes away, there's 2 others i visit sporadically and i ight have seen Pacific Rim and Walking Dead figures there long ago.
Getting into the children's toy section is a 5-20x more sales for any toy company and that's what McFarlane is talking about getting into and he's using his larger stuff to stand out among.
I think the bitching is premature, as again, McFarlane is starting out and he only has a single line right now. He has the rights to produce more, so he has room to expand into other scales and even toy types. If he's successful, he'll do the same shit he always does, except on a grander scale because now he he's selling shit to kids.
