>>10676774What crashed the industry was making a million #1s and Marvel nearly going out of business. Marvel is a cornerstone to the comic industry because of how many people buy their books.
Plus Marvel buying their own distributor (huge mistake that led Marvel going bankrupt and later getting bought by Toy Biz) and Diamond gaining exclusive contracts with other publishers, killed most other distributors, so that created a shit load of problems for comic shops. This was a bigger problem than sitting on pallets of #1s.
Also, McFarlane never stopped making variants and limited editions.
I would welcome a crash here, because all the cool shit is fucking expensive.
Also, did you know that dvd/bd movies also suffered from the same problem comic distribution did? This is part of what led to the collapse of Sam Goody, Suncoast, Wherehouse, and other movie/music retailers. And since these companies were a big part of McFarlane Toy's retailer support, them disappearing and downsizing made McFarlane kill various lines and try to reinvent themselves. This eventually led to them gaining the Halo license.
