The diary is actually pretty interesting. There's this snippet between GB1 and 2 where Egon writes about Venkman wanting to go national since they were banned from busting in NYC. Egon came up with the idea of a portable containment unit utilizing a large tanker to house it. Seeing as Afterlife had them needing a bunch of traps to hold Gozer since Egon was working with what little he had instead of a budget, decking out a tanker or better yet a firetruck as a large portable housing unit would make sense.
