As far as gimmicks go, TR is absolutely brilliant and you must be some sort of retard with catastrophic autism to not realize it.
Not only does TR allow for all sorts of customization, but for the first time ever it properly integrates every single toy size class, from master to titan, into a cohesive, interactive play pattern. It finally makes sense scale wise to have a tractor trailer that's 1/4 the size of a fucking city side-by-side.
The only shitty thing about the toys is that they're being produced at a time when Hasbro has decided to skimp hard on quality plastic and paint, but at least Takara offsets some of that.
If you want toys with no gimmicks that are slavish to G1, go get a job and collect fucking MP's like the rest of us do.
