I've never really designed anything in LDD over 500 pieces, ship-wise. Even at my big part counts, it's because of a lot of plates. That SSD was probably 500 - 600 pieces but there are a ton of plates and small bricks.
This guy is about 265 right now, which has me pretty hype. I'm still not satisfied.
>>5391484It's a pretty hard thing to try and design right, yeah. LEGO went with light grey for the UCS one, so I just rolled with it. I think for detail it was probably the easiest, light grey versus dark grey was much easier to contrast than black / blue / dark grey.
I'll probably revisit it when I'm done with my KR Shuttle. The guy who put it together told me he had to make some modifications in order to keep it sturdy and swooshable, which I definitely knew he would have to do given I made it in LDD and I think the entire thing is plates and really stupid connections.
