>>5413053For those, I used some ancient pastels I have from high school ("Pro Art" brand), and watercolour pencils from Prismacolor and Derwent (the cheapy line that they sell in bulk), with a wee bit of acrylic paint for highlights. Tamiya semi-gloss and gloss varnish for eyes and lips.
Sealing between layers and building up layers is the important part to making things go smoothly, and why I went so slow. Those two dolls have six layers of MSC on them in the end. It took about three layers to get smooth, heavily pigmented lines. The pastels go on pretty dark pretty quickly, though. The other thing is having a really sharp point on your pencil and thickening lines gradually rather than trying to draw like you would on paper.
I've been experimenting with Reeves pastels on my latest doll, and they work about the same, but have different colours.
Pic related was an in-progress shot (and I have since learned to avoid masking tape in favour of little rubberbands).
