They did it to Neca originally, back when Neca first made their Mirage Turtles. Playmates bitched that Neca can't do collector figures, because Playmates was going to put out some 6in collector figures, and therefore it infringed on their master liscense.
Playmates is very mad that Super7 based figures off their old designs, and I wouldn't be surprised if they were doing all those recent reissues of old toys just to fuck with them, and complain that they shouldn't be allowed to do Ray Filet, because they made a reissue, etc. Super7 can't even do weapons racks anymore. They also on record, bitched about the Party Wagon, desguise Turtles, and Rat King, and possibly fucked up Super7's Usagi Yojimbo plans(they initially cancelled the figures because of a new show). According to a Fwoosh interview, Super7's inventing new desguise themes, possibly because of Playmates, hence why they're doing Ninja Nomad Leonardo,(the theme is Ninja, Ninja Turtles). Brian Flynn has gone on record that some things can only be made if they appeared somewhere that wasn't made by Playmates, such as the Shredder's Revenge game.
