It's flush with the side, so there's some sort of other piece that's being used inbetween the two 1x2 half-cheeses and the 1x2 hinge used for the spoiler...
I'm thinking he maybe used two of these 1x1 headlight bricks laid down on their sides, but then that would mean their bottom halves would be sticking out the back, and that wouldn't make sense because it wouldn't be flush with that 1x2 limegreen cheese wedge behind it.
