it's an economics of scale.
it might sound like it's a lot to make a million dollars, but they only need to sell 10,000 sets at $100 each to make that. 10,000 might even sound like a lot, but America alone has 50 states. that's only 200 people per state. 200 sounds like a very achievable goal, no matter what kind of nonsense set it is.
