You see, the whole "model looks like a /toy/ for kids" thing essentially boils down "it is painted in one single colour and looks dull". "Real" tanks, even painted in one colour, have this subtle variation of colour hue and vibrance - dust, light and shadows, uneven fading in the sun, etc, etc, etc. You can barely notice it, but this is the main thing that makes it "real".
