I build small, dunno why, but I prefer smaller builds than 3-5k ones. My ideas are simple boring non-licenced "utilitarian" shit. I got few MOCs with autistic story telling in them (castle theme) and stuff like rubber band powered minifigure scale trebuchet (but after checking Ideas, people did submit those without any success, my would just look a bit prettier). Got merchant ship for Pirates which I will share in few months.
Lego Ideas is a licence race, in general, quality of your build doesn't matter. Licence is what matters. The current thing. That boy band set and among us every review period says it all. Yeah, you get some gems like Pirates of the Barracuda Bay, but it was few years ago, nowadays all you are going to get is a sitcom set, typewriter or guitar or some shit like this. Not like I'm superior and designers of those are shitty or smth, I just have my own taste and I'm not a fan of sets intentionally designed to be dust collectors.
