Direct market has been a thing since the 90s and if it gets official distribution in the US, it's counted by most services. Good Smile, Bandai, and others have official distributors in the US.
If they're imported, only the bigger trackers like NPD will track those sales.
NPD itself has talked a lot about toys for collectors/adults being a big thing since like the 00s.
