they are harder to move around and the weight will increase tip contact with the floor to prevent getting knocked out by attackers
but generally all that weight and tip contact will reduce spin time and stamina types will outlast them
that said some people make heavy defense/stamina hybrids
also, people find that weak launching defense types actually makes them harder to knock out
