I work in a mid-size, independent toy shop. Star Wars stuff use to be one of the best sellers but it's really cooled off. There was a small surge after The Last Jedi but it did not last long at all and we over-bought on stock. The only thing that regularly sells is Star Wars Lego. And even then, most of the sets based on the new movies aren't moving. In fact, I think we sold more Harry Potter Lego this month than Star Wars.
Surprisingly, the store is seeing a lot of growth even with video games and amazon. In particular, there's been a lot more people buying board games, models, animatronics and nerf guns. Seems like a revival of people wanting the in-store experience and using the toy store as family time to walk around, look at the displays and see what their kids are interested in.
