you already own "a bunch of bricks"
you probably own lots of "a bunch of bricks"
so... build the set yourself with your own bunch of bricks
(there's somewhat of an exception if the brick is unique, with a rare color or print or whatever)
Lego is great you can build sets for whatever you want! except... like, if you want a Dragonball Z set, you can build a giant dragon, but not the Goku minifig, you'd need to buy him in a real set
