Also, almost every bootleg I've tried uses slightly different plastic. It's either, softer, harder or the colors are slightly different.
The only evidence I've ever seen supporting your theory is overlap in sets between different chinese brands, where one company expands its range by sourcing sets from another and just changing the label on the box (and I've only seen that once)
