I have a flash and I use it from time to time but I found it harder to set up the shot without seeing the actual lighting (plus LED bulbs are cheaper than flashes).

I got a cheap plastic folding table that I can put in the middle of the room, arrange the stands around it however I want, run all the cables etc, it just made it much easier. Takes me about 25min to put everything together.
