>>9989574Why are you discussing things you know nothing about? The world 'Dragon' comes from the Latin word Draconem (and the Greek δράκων), both of which mean 'Great Serpent'. Serpent doesn't necessarily mean 'snake' in either of those languages (which is why the Bible translations are off), but rather refers to something monstrous or terrifying, and is not used to exclusively refer to mythological creatures (like the Leviathan, which was a whale). Dragons predated their names, though - some of their earliest depictions were from the ancient Near East and Mesopotamia, (pic related), and they were always depicted as amalgams of animals; to get back to your discussion of Asian dragons, the Long/Lung dragons everyone thinks of are just one kind of dragon over there (and they ARE amalgams of animals - specifically, they're part fish and part serpent). Other beings that fall into the category of 'dragon' over there are Qilin/Kirin, Komainu, Longma, Nue, and more - and just try googling what those things look like and tell me they're not chimeras.
Don't try to call people out when you're clearly talking out of your ass.
