Styles have leaned towards cleaner sculpts in the last 10 years. Also, perhaps it might be because traditionally made toy sculpts had to carve definition into the sculpts more because of less faithful reproduction, but the organicness of analog sculpts holds up fairly well compared to some modern toys, especially when it comes to similar cheap toys. late 90's Kenner holds up well compared to Spinmasters, for example.
