Larsen exaggerated McFarlane's design even more by having the jaw hanging down to his knees and slobbering everywhere. It's part of the character that got stuck with him even into the video games with MvC.
It's part of their personalities. It's why Carnage has sharp pointy shit going on even when he's dripping. Almost all the symbiotes created since then had their little motif.
By the Revoltech not caring on with that design, it's just a failure. Just like the PAK Venom looking like he's made out of bicycle elmets and leather straps
