I'll just copy something I wrote in the MOTU thread about this:
>Are you old enough to remember playing with the vintage MOTU figures? I had a lot of toys as a kid but very few of them survived in one piece. I played with my toys HARD, sometimes intentionally breaking them by smashing them together so hard, cheaper ones were lit on fire for the fun of it. Fast forward 35 years later and I actually have a huge appreciation for shit that's still in package. I enjoy them more like this.
>The ones I took out of package I literally played with like I was 5 again which was okay, but not as fun as it was when I was actually 5. Now they're posed on Castle Grayskull and collecting dust, looking like 99% of every other Origins collector's display.
>The design on the cards is great and nostalgic, setting them up like this reminds me of being a kid in a toy store in the 80s and 90s again. Sure, there's a few with play features that would be fun to try out; I get that Origins are meant to be played with... But I really can't bring myself to tear open these beautiful packs for the same level of enjoyment I'd get from keeping them in them.
tl;dr - I get more enjoyment from collecting and displaying toys as an adult then taking them out and playing with them. They display more nicely in their nicely designed packages and take up less space because they're on my wall as opposed to a shelf or table in my room. They're also better protected from dust, and far more valuable than they would be if opened.
