All the grouchy old Eva fans will grouse about the Koto kits because they're retooled Rebuild kits so the proportions aren't exactly the same as the old days, they look a little more modern. I personally think it's a great looking balance though, and there is almost nobody else making TV Eva merch, so I say go for it.

I don't own Eva 02 but I do own 01 and it's generally fantastic.

Of course, people will always find things to nitpick no matter how good something is, and this one has obvious issues out of the gate due to being a retool of the Rebuild kits, but Koto's recent TV version kit was frankly good enough for me. They nailed the mouth, which is the most important thing to me in a TV version rendition and something which even a lot of the older kits did poorly.

I mean, probably never, considering Kaiyodo produced dozens and dozens of Eva figures after the original TV versions and never once looked back to those original designs. Hell, even Rebuild was in limbo over there for a good long while. I wouldn't hold my breath.

Go for the recent TV version kits by Kotobukiya instead. They require minimal painting (have some prepainted parts even) and are your best bet for a TV version Eva with modern engineering. They also actually got Eva 01's jaws looking right, which I am SO glad about. So many companies seem to fuck them up, Kaiyodo included.
