>>10748430I plan part breakdowns as I model, and sometimes before I even start. Like I want detail on the bottom of the hull, so that means it's a two part assembly right out of the gate, so I model with that in mind. Panel lines make for natural separation between parts, so I utilize that. Chamfered mating surfaces, location holes, proper tolerances are pretty much done after I rough out the shape and before I start getting heavy on the details. Alibre has a decent assembly type approach to complex models which makes it easy to duplicate and constrain parts together. There's still a bit of back and forth, changing things to suit, but that's gonna be unavoidable.
