The way the stem attaches to the base uses this really weird construction. You push the stem's plug into the little hole where it's supposed to pivot and it locks in. I thought I'd fucked it because when I tried to move it, it wouldn't move and I could tell that any more force put on it would break it. Then after freaking out for a second I discovered that the piece that goes on the other side of the hole is actually there to push the stem's plug back out so you can pivot it, then push it back in to lock it.
I guess it makes sense in hindsight, but it's different to every other figure stand I've used.
