I've passed on a few TFs I thought would be dead-certs - Apeface, most of the Micromasters, TR Topspin & Perceptor - just because I didn't like them up close.
I've also bought things like Dreadwind, the Dinobots, TR Quake & Chromedome that I wouldn't have given a second thought otherwise.
I think the key is seeing up close, and not buying straight away if you're not 100% sure. If you still want it a few days later, that 'fuck I hope it's still in stock' feeling adds to the excitement.
Which is probably a weird thing to say, but hey, it works for me.
