The effect piece is no thicker than the loops on the armatures that poke up on his back already, so there's plenty of clearance - enough so that you can still get him in and out of the storage box with ease. I'm pretty sure the whole reason they swapped out the guns from Thrashard and Jawbreaker for those weird armatures to begin with was so that you'd have somewhere to store that effect piece - there's no other reason for those parts to exist, or for them to end in peg-holes that are perfectly-sized for the specific piece that's exclusive only to this version of the mold.
