That entire storyline is based on what we already know and are anticipating how/who it will turn into Venom (Ultimate Carnage was Gwen, btw). That's how almost all of the Ultimate universe worked. Everything retold, slightly different, and/or turned around. In the end, Venom didn't look like 616 Venom and even then, Ultimate Venom isn't like Yamaguchi's.
So your knowledge is about as thorough as Yamaguchi's.
