1. Most American action figure toylines nowadays are ratcheted. It sucks, and limits range of motion, but it keeps kids toys from getting loose and floppy, which keeps parents from complaining, so that's what we're gonna keep getting.
2. I don't think anything, either Japanese or American, really matches Revos for range of motion, so that's not really fair to say. Even the best runner-ups, like the 1000Toys Synth, can't quite match (much less beat) Revos for sheer dynamicism and tight body compression. Yamaguchi's sculpts and Kaiyodo's engineering have been working hand-in-hand for years to keep them at the top of this game.
So, all that said, I own a couple of McFarlane's Fortnite figs and yeah, they're not the greatest thing ever, but they are leaps and bounds above what Todd was producing before. It's a real accomplishment for the company and should be treated as such, rather than making unfair comparisons to other toylines.
