>>6977167In the US, a lot of the sculpt work is contract work. Their figures don't cost much more, even when they announced its made by Gentle Giant.
The fact that Takeya's REvoltechs don't cost much more than a normal Revoltech is because he was regularly making sculpts with REvoltech, so they probably had a deal with him.
His work for Figmas is undoubtedly different, hence the super high cost.
And again, you have no idea what you're talking about when it comes to detail work. Injection molding used on nearly every toy today allows super detail to always come out. IT's up to the sculptor to put in as much detail that he wants or is needed. The costs do not change whether looks like a McFarlane figure or a Jakks Pacific figure.
The cost only changes if more molds are needed to cast more pieces to give more detail where one casting isn't enough, like intricate details on guns where a single mold would fill in the barrel and sling details.
Toys like this cost the same amount as Marvel LEgends did back in the day and molding really hasn't improved since then. This figure has about as much articulation as a Toy Biz ML, yet cost about the same.
Only later did McFarlane remove articulation, and focused on giving even more paint apps to his figures, where each stroke of a brush is an extra cost.
As stated, molding really hasn't change since the 90s, since that's when McFarlane figured out that companies were using high pressure processes that could get more detail that companies weren't sculpting and MCFarlane took advantage of that to stand out, inspiring toy makers ever since then to add more details to their toys.
