>>10844596In case anyone is curious Ymir is a solid 6/10 figure.
The sculpt is cute and her paintwork picks out all of the details you could want. If she were a statue I really wouldn’t have any complaints, unfortunately as an action figure she’s not great.
Ymir is an old Revoltech figure and that comes with serious baggage. She’s made almost entirely out of the company’s notorious revolver joints. For those who don’t know revolver joints are theoretically really good since they allow for a wide range of posing. The issue is that fully accessing this range requires you to regularly reposition the joints within the figure which is both tedious and risks damaging the figure’s joints. I’ve had my Ymir for about 5 years and she spends most of her time in her box, over the course of a handful of photo sessions she’s had two of her revolver joints break. One in her neck when I took her head off to change her outfit, and another in one of her fingers when I was trying to reposition the joint to splay her fingers for a pose. Revolver joints are cheap and easy to replace but multiple breaks over the course of fairly light use is hard to excuse.
In conclusion Ymir is a really pretty figure that’s awkward to handle. If you like playing with your toys then I’d stay away from her. If you just want an attractive castoff figure that you can pose to your liking and leave on a shelf then Ymir isn’t a bad choice.
