>>10703635>The one time Hasbro did actually make the toys all on their own and had it succeed, was when Kenner's design team made Beast Wars, which took full advantage of the concept of ballpoints to offer less limited articulation, creating more dynamic action figures that also had plenty of play functions. Though this still came after G2 and Machine Wars started introducing the concept, Beast Wars embraced it wholeheartedly.Those were still engineered by takara. So were the movie transformers, they were just working off Hasbro made designs and budget standards. All the late G1 toys in America and Europe were still engineered by Takara as well, which is why they used them in their own lines.
The closest thing to a wholly US designed BW figure was Optimal Optimus, which Hasbro commissioned because they wanted a centerpiece electronic toy for the line.
